WAM WAM Abu Dhabi, Dec. 27th,
2007(WAM)-- UAE and Indonesia have recently signed at Indonesian
capital, Jakarta, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), whereby Indonesia
will provide labour in fields of health, tourism, hospitality and
construction sector to the UAE.
The MoU was signed in the Indonesian capital Jakarta, between UAE
Minister of Labour Dr. Abdullah Al Ka'abi and Indonesian Manpower and
Transmigration Minister Erman Suprano.
The MoU aims at providing regulations for recruitment and placement of
the Indonesian manpower to the UAE labour market. Moreover, it is part
of the UAE's efforts to balance and streamline the UAE labour market,
according to a press release issued by the Indonesian embassy here.
Al Ka'abi said that the UAE has offered Indonesia job opportunities in
the health, tourism, hospitality and construction sectors, adding that
"the UAE government would be happy for Indonesian workers to fill all
the positions on offer." He called on the Indonesian labour suppliers to
provide capable manpower in the required fields.
Al Ka'abi expressed his appreciation on the joint commitment made by the
two countries and the need to be more selective in recruiting foreign
workers.
He noted that the remuneration system is based on market demands and job
competence. The more skilled the workers are, the more they will be
paid.
Meanwhile, Suprano stated that his ministry is providing better training
centres to meet the competence level of Indonesian workers to the UAE
labour market.
Both UAE and Indonesia will establish a joint working group to follow up
and discuss the technical matters of the MoU. However, one of the
articles in the MoU stated that UAE and Indonesia agreed that the
recruitment and placement of Indonesian domestic workers to the UAE is
governed by separate and special arrangements outside the mandate of the
UAE Ministry of Labour, but under the mandate of the concerned
department of the UAE Ministry of Interior.
Led by Al Ka'abi, the UAE delegation visited CEVEST Vocational Training
Centre in Bekasi, which is under the supervision of the Indonesian
ministry of manpower and transmigration.
